Hi there!

I’m Renée Kurilla. I’m a Boston-based children’s illustrator and author. Some of my books include the picture book One Springy, Singy Day and the early reader graphic novel The Flower Garden.

I’m also a mom to arguably the cutest 8 year old. 😊

I have a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Graphic Design from Lesley University College of Art and Design. Before transitioning to a full time career in children’s books, I was a Lead Artist at FableVision Studios for 10 years.

I’ve illustrated over 50 books for kids in the past decade including picture books, chapter books, early readers, and graphic novels. I enjoy book making so much, but I also didn’t realize how solitary this career would be.

I started this space because I was looking for a way to connect more with readers, educators, peers, and anyone else who is interested in the process of making children’s books (with maybe some toddling around the studio, sketchbooks, parenting ups and downs, gardening, caffeinated ranting mixed in here and there)!

I’m still working out the kinks and learning the ins and outs of Substack, but I’ll be up and running soon!

I hope you’ll join me!
